The global food industry experienced a 176% rise in compound annual growth rate (CAGR) in company filings mentions of robotics since 2020. Key companies in terms of mentions include AGV PRODUCTS, Sime Darby Plantation, and The Bidvest Group, according to GlobalData’s analysis of over 270 food company filings.
Notably, since 2020, robotics was the most referenced theme in terms of mentions, ahead of artificial intelligence and internet of things, according to GlobalData's Company Filings database. Mentions related to robotics increased by 192% year-on-year in 2021 and by 161% year-on-year in 2022.

Of the 50 leading companies in the food industry, The Bidvest Group had the highest year-on-year increase in references to robotics in 2022. GlobalData identified 16 robotics related sentences in the company's filings in 2022, 4% of all sentences. Meanwhile, Thai Wah had the highest year-on-year increase in references for robotics in 2021. GlobalData identified 5 robotics related sentences in the company's filings in 2021, 3% of all sentences.
