Germany’s Alfred Ritter buys US chocolate group Creative Natural Products

German chocolate manufacturer Alfred Ritter has acquired Creative Natural Products, the US business behind the Chocolove brand. The value of the transaction has not been disclosed. Alfred Ritter operates in the US through its local subsidiary for the Ritter Sport brand, which was set up at the start of 2024. Creative Natural Products, headquartered in Boulder, Colorado, will continue to produce Chocolove products at its existing facility in the city.

Greencore to sell soups, sauces assets to The Compleat Food Group

Greencore plans to sell its soups and sauces business in the UK city of Bristol to The Compleat Food Group to satisfy a regulatory hurdle in its takeover of Bakkavor. The Compleat Food Group has emerged as the buyer of the assets after Greencore said it would look to sell to get the Bakkavor deal over the line with the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA).

Emmi snaps up The English Cheesecake Company

Swiss dairy major Emmi is acquiring The English Cheesecake Company, a UK-based producer of “premium” desserts. Emmi said the “bolt-on” acquisition is intended to “strengthen” its desserts portfolio and its position as “category captain” in the wake of a deal last year for Mademoiselle Desserts in France. Founded in 2000 as a family business, The English Cheesecake Company makes cheesecakes based on traditional British recipes.

Turkey’s Eti Gıda moves for Canada snacks firm Trubar

Turkey-based food grpup Eti Gıda has struck a deal to buy Canadian snacks group Trubar. Eti Gida, which markets biscuits, cakes and confectionery, is to pay C$201m (US$143.1m) for the snack-bar business, Trubar said. Trubar directors and officers who hold a total of 16% of the company’s shares have agreed to back the offer.
