Does entrained gas impact your flow measurement?
Mass flow and density are critical parameters in the food industry that directly impacts the mass balance control and final product quality. How can you ensure accurate process measurements if entrained gas is present in your product?
Air intake can occur either deliberately – e.g. whipped products and ice cream - or be caused by process conditions in products with a high viscosity or tendency to foam – e.g. milk reception, sauces and pastes.
Accurate measurement of density and flow under these conditions are often challenging, leading to inefficient balance control and product losses.
The Promass Q, from Endress+Hauser, ensures high accuracy even under these challenging conditions. With the patented Multi-Frequency Technology (MFT), measurement errors associated with entrained gas are reduced to new lows, improving product quality, consistency and reducing operational costs.
Benefits:
- Space-saving installation – no in/outlet run needs
- Full access to process and diagnostic information – numerous, freely combinable I/Os and fieldbuses
- Improved plant availability with in-built verification technology

How does the Multi-Frequency Technology (MFT) works?
1. The same set of dual tubes are oscillated at two different resonant frequencies or modes simultaneously
Standard Coriolis Flowmeter – Tubes resonating at the same frequency
2. The Coriolis meter is measuring the same fluid with the same amount of entrained gas, however the way these two modes react to this will be different.
Promass Q – Multi-Frequency Technology oscillation
3. Through analyzing the difference and the unique resonance properties of the two modes, we are then able to effectively and actively compensate for the associated measurement error.
