Nestlé puts European frozen pizza business into latest PAI Partners venture

Nestlé has set up another venture with private-equity firm PAI Partners, establishing a business to house its frozen-pizza assets in Europe. The transaction is expected to close in the second half of 2023, following the approval of regulatory authorities. The pizza business generates a turnover of SFr400m ($444.6m) and its pizzas are sold under the Wagner, Buitoni and Garden Gourmet brands in countries including Germany, Italy, and France.

Kirin to buy Aussie vitamins and infant-formula group Blackmores

Kirin Holdings has agreed to acquire Australian vitamins and infant-formula business Blackmores for AUD1.88bn ($1.24bn) in a move to expand the Japanese brewer’s health products portfolio. The deal is part of a push from Kirin to expand beyond its core operations of brewing and selling beer, as sales of alcohol in its domestic market continue to falter.

Savencia strengthens hold in Argentina with Williner buy

French dairy group Savencia Fromage & Dairy has acquired Argentina’s Sucesores de Alfredo Williner, the owner of the Ilolay yogurt brand. Santa Fe-based Ilolay produces milk, yoghurt, butter, cheese and desserts, and exports to more than 30 countries. The deal expands Savencia’s current Argentinian portfolio, which includes local brands Milkaut, Santa Rosa and Adler.

Cooke nets deal to buy seafood peer Slade Gorton

Canadian seafood firm Cooke has added to its portfolio with the purchase of Slade Gorton. US-based Slade Gorton, sells more than 800 seafood products, such as Atlantic salmon, lobster and Icelandic cod, through retailers and foodservice. Cooke has annual sales of around C$2.4bn (US$1.78bn) and runs several fish farming operations around the world, including salmon farming in Canada, the US, Chile and Scotland.
