Campbell sells popcorn business Pop Secret to snacks peer Our Home
Campbell Soup Co. has offloaded its Pop Secret popcorn business to US snacks manufacturer Our Home for an undisclosed sum. Campbell suggested the disposal will “drive greater focus” within its snacks division. Popchips brand owner Our Home said the deal “significantly scales its operation”. The deal follows Our Home’s purchases of Sonoma Creamery cheese crisps in May and a clutch of assets from fellow US snacks group Utz Brands through two transactions earlier this year.
Cerealto Siro Foods snaps up UK’s Hill Biscuits
Spain’s Cerealto Siro Foods has acquired Hill Biscuits from a private-equity firm LDC. Hill Biscuits, founded as a shop Manchester in 1855, employs around 350 people, selling biscuits such as bourbons and custard creams. LDC claimed Hill Biscuits’ annual revenues stand at more than £40m, including sales growth of 44% for last year. In the last set of accounts filed for the business for the year to the end of 2022 it recorded sales of £26m.
Ferrero-related company to buy US-based Nonni’s Bakery
A company linked to Italy-based chocolate heavyweight Ferrero is to acquire US biscotti maker Nonni’s Bakery. CTH Invest is buying Nonni’s, based in Pennsylvania, from private-equity firm Vestar Capital Partners for an undisclosed sum. Nonni’s manufactures “premium artisanal” biscotti cookies and baked goods. CTH Invest is a Ferrero-related holding company that owns businesses including UK group Burton’s Biscuit Co. and Denmark’s Kelsen.
Inspired Pet Nutrition confirms Butcher’s Pet Care purchase
Private-equity-backed Inspired Pet Nutrition (IPN) has acquired fellow UK business Butcher’s Pet Care. Majority-owned by private-equity firm CapVest Partners since 2020, IPN said its latest pet-food deal will give the company combined sales of around £350m ($459.2m), although the price of the investment has not been disclosed. Butcher’s Pet Care was set up in 1983 and supplies wet foods for cats and dogs. It produces three brands: Butcher’s, Blink and Classic.
