From 30 May to 1 June 2025, the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre hosted the Good Food & Wine Show, the first stop in what’s going to be another flavour-packed year for the exhibition.
Now in its 25th year, the Good Food & Wine Show remains one of Australia’s most beloved consumer food events, with more than 300 exhibitors converging from across the country as the show visits Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, and Brisbane. From artisanal producers to national FMCG brands and premium wineries, the show has long offered a unique opportunity for brands to connect directly with a highly engaged audience.
Not just a delicious day out, the GFWS is also a key event for business-to-business connections in the food and drink sector, quietly fuelling deals and collaborations on the show floor.
“It's a consumer show and will always be – but the amount of B2B business done on the floor, particularly on the Friday, is huge,” said Event Director James Laing. “We’ve had Woolworths buyers come through, IGA, Qantas, even Cathay Pacific and Crown. Exhibitors are making deals that, for some, cover the entire cost of participating in the event on day one. As far as they’re concerned, the rest of the weekend is a bonus.”
Exhibitors often arrive with the goal of brand building, product sampling and driving sales –– but are increasingly walking away with new distribution opportunities, retail partnerships, or export leads.

A core strength of the show is its consistent ability to attract a loyal following of both visitors and exhibitors, with many producers returning year after year. “Retention remains really high,” said Laing. “Some wineries have been with us for over 20 years, and visitors love that annual connection. But to keep things fresh, we aim for about 30% new exhibitors each year – it’s a sweet spot that delivers novelty without losing the familiar favourites.”
This year’s show also arrives off the back of the acquisition by SpecTAPular Enterprises, which brought the team behind GABS (Great Australasian Beer SpecTAPular) into the fold. While it's still early days, the merger presents opportunities for audience cross-pollination and smarter segmentation of consumer interests to enhance the visitor experience while keeping its longstanding character.
“We’re doing a lot of work on our attendee databases,” Laing shared. “Good Food & Wine is its own ecosystem, and GABS is its own ecosystem,” he says. “But we are exploring where there’s crossover.”.
As for what’s trending on the tasting tables, Laing points to whisky as a still-rising star. “Whisky still seems to be big this year. Gin’s hanging in there, and hot sauces really exploded last year – chilli sauces just went nuts,” he said. “But wine remains the single biggest category by far. There’s a unique mentality among wineries, you never hear them complain about competition or how many cellar doors are in their region. They’re each confident in what their product brings and love telling their stories.”

Alongside crowd favourites like the Wine Selectors Tasting Rooms, the show’s 2025 programme includes masterclasses in martini-making and chocolate appreciation, as well as a jam-packed schedule of live cooking demonstrations hosted by Alastair McLeod and featuring some of the country’s top chefs.
